ABOUT THE ARTIST
No Jewelry for BRENES CATALINA
"My work is a continuos process, a constant research of a timelessness form."
Catalina Brenes is a Costa Rican artist. She approached jewellery for the first time in 2005 while also studying graphic design. In 2007 she decides to move in Florence and study at Alchimia ( school for Contemporary Jewellery ). She then move in Berlin in 2012 to get a Master degree in hochschule Trier / Campus Idar Oberstein, Germany. Her jewellery is being exhibited in Germany, Holland, China, Spain, Italy, Belgium, England and France.
Catalina Brenese questions herself on existential issues; space and time belong to everyone and no one, we can find ourselves on the other side of the world with just one click but without leaving any trace of our passage. Choosing the marble, an historical material, as a medium for her work, the artist manages to model it wisely to transform her thoughts into physically eternal pieces. Catalina talks about her jewellery saying: “My work is a continuos process, a constant research of a timelessness form. In between, I am finding many things I cannot name. I want to leave a trace, remain in time
