WALTER JULIA

statement

“ I believe in the spiritual power of objects and people and have an instinctive understanding of nature and its elements. My perception of how the world is put together is influenced by my imagination that everything is somehow connected in a constant flow of movement and transformation, action and reaction. This imagination helps me to keep the balance between chaos and order, mystery and reality, light and darkness.

I believe in the energy a piece of jewellery can carry. Jewellery is charged with the energy of its maker, the energy of a moment, the energy of a ceremony, the energy of its materiality. This energy is transmitted onto the wearer.
My work reflects the ambivalent power of symbols, both ancient as well as contemporary interpretations of now ubiquitous emojis. I am trying to calibrate intuition, fortune and improvisation. The outcome is wearable cult jewellery - powerful amulets of our time.”
