ABOUT THE ARTIST
Sang-deok Han was born in Seoul, Korea. He graduates at the Kookmin University (Korea) to then continue his studies between Belgium and Japan. He exhibit his work during TALENTE, Munich 2009; 17th silber Triennale, Hanau and various exhibition around the world. He won Preziosa 2015, Florence and the Metalwork and Jewelry Award winner at Yoolizzy craft museum, Seoul.
Sang-deok Han addresses sociopolitical issues talking about the connections and contrasts between human beings and nature. The artist creates surreal jewels and sculptures that resemble abstracted organic shapes. Han uses materials such as iron, steel, wood and resin to create brooches which are often accompanied by drawings and illustrations. His pieces possess an ambiguous and highly sarcastic character.
