In between days
My friend has a pony
Someone to look after the garden
The story is told in three parts
A farm in which the animal knew him
We remember the time that we were happy
Hai vinto tu
Catalina Brenes, Karin Herwegh
7th June – 20th July
Irene Belfi is pleased to present Times and Places, the new exhibition of Catalina Brenes and Karin Herwegh.
The Costa Rican Catalina Brenes questions herself on existential issues; space and time belong to everyone and no one, we can find ourselves on the other side of the world with just one click but without leaving any trace of our passage.
Choosing the marble, an historical material, as a medium for her work, the artist manages to model it wisely to transform her thoughts into physically eternal pieces. Catalina talks about her jewellery saying: “My work is a continuos pro- cess, a constant research of a timelessness form. In between, I am finding many things I cannot name. I want to leave a trace, remain in time”.
The jewellery pieces of the Dutch artist Karin Herwegh are the result of her vision of the world where mystery and charm, relationships and cultures come together to narrate incredible stories.
The artist choose the wood as a medium of expression and, using the sketches made in the last 20 years, she transforms them into jewels and narrate the pri- mitive connection between man and nature.
Herwegh doesn’t plan the final result of the work but she lets the material guide her during the creative process.
Every jewel in this exhibition is the interpretation of the personal story of the artists that, although they come from culturally different nations, they find themselves wondering on the same issues.
